When it comes to WordPress eCommerce solutions, there is no equal
There are a ton of ways to sell things online today and a bunch of recognizable industry names such as Shopify, Magento, and Square Space but few are as customizable and well supported as WooCommerce. Not only is WooCommerce the most popular eCommerce platform on the web today, it is also the most diverse. WooCommerce is an extendable, adaptable, open-sourced platform that gives developers the ability to build the store their client need and allows store owners to sell anything, anywhere in style. Whether you would like to sell real products, digital downloads, your time or even subscription based services, WooCommerce enables a store to help you sell it online. Lets take a look at some of the biggest benefits of using WooCommerce for your eCommerce shop.
wordpress ecommerce themes
There are many reasons why WooCommerce is the best WordPress eCommerce plugin, but one of the biggest reasons is all of the free themes that are offered by WooThemes, the creator of Woocommerce. Currently, there are 6 free WordPress/WooCommerce themes available for download. The free themes are basic, but are perfect for simple online stores and developers that are new to selling online. These themes are so easy to install and use, you could literally be selling your products online within hours of downloading and installing.
Looking for a WooCommerce theme that offers more features and a unique look? They also have themes that you can purchase that range from $39.00-$139.99. These themes are a bit more visually appealing and can help your site standout. One thing to consider when purchasing a WooCommerce theme from WooThemes is doubling down and buying the ALL THEMES package for $399.99. This gives you access to all of the themes created by WooThemes plus 1 year of support and updates. If you are a developer that is going to be building a lot of eCommerce shops, this is a tremendous value and we highly recommend it.
hundreds of extensions that make selling online easier
WooCommerce is free to download and anyone that is using WordPress can utilize it. Although WooCommerce is extremely powerful right out of the box, WooThemes provides a library of powerful extensions built by certified developers that you can purchase right on their website. WooCommerce extensions are plugins built by third party developers that have been certified by the WooThemes team. From shipping and payment gateways to tax and marketing tools, with over 300 extensions available for purchase you can rest assured that they have the tools to help you build an amazing eCommerce shop.
To give you a good example of a WooCommerce extension, one of my personal favorites is WooCommerce's Dynamic Pricing extension. WooComerce Dynamic Pricing gives you a powerful system for creating four different types of bulk discounts and price adjustments. The add-on has been designed to give store owners flexibility in controlling prices that no other eCommerce solution offers. I can't verify that last claim, but I can verify that it is awesome add-on that has come in handy numerous times.
Supported by an awesome team
Aside from fantastic documentation on the platform and a very informative and involved WooCommerce community, WooThemes is fantastic at supporting their eCommerce platform through their ticketing system. They have a team in most time zones and are quick to answer support inquiries or questions and comments you may have on an extension, theme or plugin. Even better, WooCommerce was purchased by Automattic (the developers responsible for creating WordPress) in 2015 making WooCommerce the most powerful eCommerce tool for WordPress, hands down. Now that Matt Mullenweg (lead developer and creator of WordPress) and his team of developers at Automattic have joined forces with WooThemes, WooCommerce is only going to become more powerful and an even bigger player in the eCommerce solution space.
WooCommerce is our go to eCommerce platform and there is good reason: the team that built WordPress loved it so much that they decided to buy it. If that doesn't say something, I don't know what does. WooCommerce is already dominanting the eCommerce solution space and we don't see that changing.
